Another busy day on the range, unlike many sports in the London 2012 Olympics there were no seats remaining in the qualification halls or the finals hall. Yesterday saw all ladies events and today it was the men’s turn to show the crowd their ability. With a crowd and somewhat noisy qualification hall, the men battled it out to win their place in the 10m Air Rifle Final. Surprisingly out of the eight shooters that qualified there was only one shooter that had made a previous Olympic final in 10m Air Rifle. Whether it was previous experience or a dedicated training programme, Moldoveanu shot a fantastic final only really dropping one shot. Like all the finals so far, none of them have been clear cut. The crowd have had an emotional roller coaster ride with finalist Campriani, Narang, Moldoveanu and Wang all trying to win an Olympic medal. We saw all three reach 1st position at some stage of the final and it came down to the 10th shot before the crowd knew who had taken gold. The Gold medallist for the 10m Men’s Air Rifle is Moldoveanu, Campriani just missed out on Gold and took Silver with Narang winning the Bronze. The Olympic torch also visited the shooting ground today and members of the public were allowed to hold the torch and have pictures taken. A nice touch from Locog.
