New ELEY range record goes to 8 times Norwegian champion

The ELEY Norway range gets a new range record!

At 24 years old, Simon Kolstad Claussen is five times Norwegian Champion, an accolade which not many 24 years olds can boast.

Simon, who is currently studying journalism, is taking some time out from studying to focus 100% on shooting. He would not be able to do this without the kind support of local sponsors; Baltic Trading (a meat supplier), and Høland & Setskog Savings Bank. This break in his academic studies has given him the opportunity to fulfill his lifetime dream and represent Norway in World Cups throughout 2016 and with any luck, take part in the Olympic Games in Rio.

Recently Simon came to test his Grünig & Elmiger Racer with ELEY tenex, a known winning combination for world-class athletes. He tested at our Norway range and his scores did not disappoint…

Simon had his rifle “tuned” by Øyvind Sirevåg, and then put ELEY tenex to the test. With approximately 20 batches to test it was ELEY tenex batch 1015-04108  that raised the bar, giving Simon an expected score ISSF 50m target (Ex. 654) of 640.05. This has earned him a Silver place position on our Norway test range rankings: http://www.eley.co.uk/en/test-ranges/norway/

As a member of the Norwegian team, Simon is one of the most promising young Norwegian shooters for both 50m and 300m and his results are as follows:

2013

  • Norwegian Indoor Champion - 15m range, 45 shots Rifle Standing
  • Norwegian Champion - 300m, 60 shots Rifle Prone
  • Norwegian Champion - 300m, 60 shots Rifle Prone (team)
  • Norwegian Champion - 300m, 3 Position Rifle (team)

2014

  • Norwegian Indoor Champion - 15m range, 45 shots Rifle Standing (team)
  • Norwegian Champion - 50m, 60 shot Prone
  • Norwegian Champion - 300m, Rifle 3 Position (team)
  • Norwegian Champion - 300m, standard Rifle 3 x 20 (team)

With his new batch selected ELEY tenex, he will be competing in the Men’s 50m Rifle 3 Positions event at the European Championships in Maribor later in the month.

ELEY would like to wish good luck to Simon in his up-and-coming competitions… he is certainly one to watch.
