Background
 

Jonas started shooting when he was 8 years old, his father and brothers all did some shooting, so it was natural for him to take up the sport. Jonas first shot air rifle and then air and fullbore. He first shot 50m when he was about 15 years old. 

Jonas has always been into sports and has also taken part competitively in swimming, basketball and a little table tennis.

Jonas's first international competition was in 1979.  In 1980 he took part in his first paralympics and gained 1 gold and 1 bronze medal. Since that date he has participated in every paralympic games, gaining at least 1 gold medal in each.

Jonas's medal count so far in the Paralympics is: 16 Gold, 3 Silver and 9 Bronze. His medal count in the World Championships is also 17 Gold medals.

Did You Know?

Jonas holds the record for the male paralympian with the most medals of all time currently (no matter what sport).

Jonas started shooting prone in World Cups during 2011, competing against able-bodied shooters, where he reached 1 final and 1 shoot off.
