50m Rifle 3 Positions 3x20 Women

This discipline is often referred to as either 3P, women’s 3 Positions or 3 x 20. The discipline is a combination of three different shooting positions; Prone, Standing and Kneeling, and are always carried out in that order. The name 3 x 20 comes from the fact 20 shots of .22 ammunition are fired from 50 meters in each of the three shooting positions.
The women’s 50m 3 x 20 is both an Olympic and International Shooting Sports Federation (ISSF) recognised discipline, with the women’s version of the discipline called 3 x 20.
In a world level completion such as a World Cup, competitors would first enter into the elimination round, where they would fire 20 shots in each position with the allowed time for this roughly around 1.5 hours. The scores are monitored with the lowest a 0 and highest 10.9. If the competitor achieves a high enough score they compete in the qualification round, where they are aiming to qualify within the top eight shooters so they go through to the event final. The event final consists of 10 shots in the standing position and the competitor qualification score is added to the final score to establish first, second and third.
