biathlon

We have a vast knowledge when it comes to target shooting with 14 out of 18 medals in the London 2012 Olympics won by athletes shooting ELEY and are now moving into biathlon shooting sports.

As we enter a new era in our engineering achievements we have created two rounds; ELEY tenex biathlon, an Olympic grade round and ELEY match biathlon a training round, both designed to suit temperatures down to -20 degrees.

Not only have we changed our flag ship product for the biathlon market we have invested in a technical cold range for product testing located in Dyrskuevegen 11 KlØfta 2040 Norway, only 17 kilometres from Oslo airport and 40 minutes from Holmenkollen.

This exciting new range is ideally located for training camps and near where the 2016 IBU World Championships will be held.

  • ELEY tenex biathlon - 01400

ELEY tenex biathlon, performance against the elements.

With over 180 years of heritage and experience, engineering excellence is central to the success of ELEY tenex. Our highly skilled engineers combine state of the art machinery with high speed electronic visual inspection systems and Six Sigma methodologies to produce the cartridges that have redefined .22LR accuracy across the world.

ELEY tenex biathlon launched in 2012 following comprehensive research and development of biathlon sport, the athletes and their needs. ELEY tenex was used as a platform on which to build this new cartridge.

The iconic flat nose projectile of ELEY tenex is one of many innovations pioneered by ELEY engineers. As it cuts through the air its revolutionary design pulls the centre of pressure forwards, aerodynamically stabilizing the projectile and increasing accuracy at the target.

Examination of bullet and chambering characteristics at freezing temperatures led to a reduction in the diameter of the cartridge to aid cycling in bolt-action or straight-pull biathlon rifles. A scientifically designed lubricant was developed to suit cold temperatures, aiding consistency and reducing barrel wear. ELEY tenex biathlon also benefits from an increased propellant charge giving the bullet enhanced terminal energy and a greater knock down force needed for the biathlon target.

  • ELEY tenex slow biathlon - 01420

ELEY tenex slow biathlon: control without compromise.

ELEY tenex slow biathlon was launched in 2017 to offer a lower velocity cartridge to elite biathletes. A reduced propellant charge improves rifle control to facilitate rapid shots on target, while retaining sufficient energy to knock down the target. It is a companion cartridge to the ELEY tenex biathlon round with greater velocity and energy.

An extensive course of research and development went into the creation of ELEY’s biathlon cartridge range.

  • ELEY match biathlon - 01410

    ELEY match biathlon training round.

The iconic flat nose projectile of ELEY match biathlon is one of many innovations pioneered by ELEY engineers. ELEY match biathlon has some of the key features of ELEY tenex biathlon making it the perfect training round. As it cuts through the air its revolutionary design pulls the centre of pressure forwards, aerodynamically stabilizing the projectile and increasing accuracy at the target.
